The first thing I did when I switched was transfer all my music from Spotify to Apple Music. The switch seemed to only make sense for me, but old habits die hard when it comes to my music taste and I wanted to have every nook and cranny of my library to be where I wanted it to when I got to Apple Music.

But my personal experience is what led me to the switch and hopefully will give others insight into which service may be preferable to them, despite all the hard work they have put into their music library. Whether my issue with Spotify was specific to me or has happened amongst other users is not known to me. The reason for my switch to Apple Music is because Spotify was repeatedly crashing and having playback issues. On my old Spotify account, I originally had over 2,000 liked songs and about 6 years worth of music curated specifically to my tastes. Ultimately, figuring out which of these streaming services is best comes down to the specific needs of the individual.I moved from Spotify to Apple Music so you don’t have to. And YouTube Music would surely be the service of choice for anyone who wants access to music videos. However, Apple Music might be a great option for Apple users because of how effortlessly it works with Apple devices.

Spotify is arguably the best all-around service for its selection of music and podcasts, plus its direct compatibility with a wide range of devices including Sonos speakers, something YouTube Music notably lacks.

The older streaming service has also led the way with offering podcasts, especially with the recent exclusive deal to host the Joe Rogan Experience on the platform. Spotify caps out at 10,000 downloaded songs, though it did recently roll out similar compatibility with Apple Watches as Apple Music. It also allows users to download up to 100,000 songs to their library for offline listening. Apple Music, meanwhile, naturally has excellent compatibility across Apple devices, including the ability to download and stream music straight to Apple Watches even when an iPhone isn't around.
